The Belgic confession is one of the most accurate summaries of the teachings of Scripture. Written in 1561 and addressed to King Philip II, this precious document was thrown over the wall of the castle of Tournai.
The purpose was to convince the king that the followers of the Reformation were no heretics and hopefully it would move him to ease the persecutions.
The author, rev C.G. Bos, gives a detailed commentary on the first 18 articles, continually pointing to Scripture to show that each confession is based on scripture. This confession survived 5 centuries and is still as applicable and rich as it was when it was written. God's Word does not change!
