This book is a collection of studies originally delivered as lectures during the winter of 1976-77. These lectures were sponsered by the two Canadian Reformed Churches in Burlington, Ontario, in the hope that in this way a contribution could be made to equip the saints for the task of testing the spirits of these often confusing times. The purpose was not solely defensive, however. One who is equipped to discern the spirits of falsehood is also equipped to go on the offensive with the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God and so to snatch some from the fire (Jude 23).
