These two books are about four high school boys, Paul, Roger, Herb and Eddie. In the book 'The Evil Professor' the four adventurers decide on a journey with a horse and carriage. They come across the evil professor who hitches a ride with them. Skippy the horse or nag, carry the boys through one crisis after the other. The climax in this book occurs when the boys are caught in a frenzied brawl in a barn and are forced to fight for their lives. In the book 'The Mystery of the three fingered Villain' These adventurers decide on a peaceful summer vacation with Skippy and Baron Rensdale. A mysterious prowler sets fire to a grass land and who attempts a robbery at the Barons house. The boys search for the Villain to rescue Skippy and to get the Villain brought into justice. They go on a desperate cross country chase which is full of excitement and adventure.
